Ridley Scott’s iconic Hovis advert gets a 4K re-release

The bakers over at Hovis have revealed that its 1973 advert Boy on the Bike is making its way back on to our television screens.

Directed by none other than Ridley Scott himself, the spot was voted as the “UK’s most iconic and heart-warming commercial” this year, prompting the full 4K makeover which screened on ITV for the first time in 50 years.

“I remember the filming process like it was yesterday, and its success represents the power of the advert,” said Scott, speaking to The Guardian.

For Hovis, the short but heart-warming advert fully represents its “core message of hard work, family and the strength of community.”
