Speaking to investors yesterday, Elon Musk revealed that a “feature complete” version of the company’s self driving capabilities may be available to select Tesla customers in the US as early as the end of 2019. He did add that it wasn’t 100% certain but, regardless, it does give hope that the feature is progressing rapidly.

Clarifying what he means by “feature complete”, Musk said the car would be able drive someone from home to work without any intervention, all at regular driving speeds. Of course, drivers will still be required to focus on the road and be ready to take control at any moment. “It doesn’t mean like every scenario everywhere on Earth, including every corner case,” he added. “We will have more than one million robotaxis on the road. A year from now, we’ll have over a million cars with full self-driving, software.”

Stay tuned for more.
