Just when you thought the Dad-shoe/Sketchers/Asics trend couldn’t go any further, NYC streetwear brand Alife has teamed up with Crocs for a special pack, including a pair with of the infamous rubber slip-ons featuring built-in sports socks.
Three collaborations pairs of Crocs are included in the collection – the “Art” version, featuring removable 3D-printed “Jibbitz”, the “Sport” version (with the aforementioned socks) and the “Classic” version, which feature Alife branding. While this all might sound strange enough, wait until you get to the price – while the Classic version will retail for a more reasonable $80, the more ornate “Art” pair, which feature little replicas of NYC landmarks sticking off them, will set you back a staggering $600.
Discussing the Croc-with-a-sock, Alife founder Rob Cristofaro said: “The tube sock was a staple for me while growing up in New York in the 1970s. In the boroughs of New York, you would see kids rocking socks with the adidas slides. The concept was really to take something as next-level as a Croc, and mix it with these elements.”
If you’re feeling it, the collection will be released on 14 June.
