The first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s live-action “Aladdin”

The very first trailer has just landed for the live-action version of Disney classic Aladdin. It comes from British director Guy Ritchie and stars Egyptian-Canadian actor Mena Massoud as the “street urchin” himself, while Princess Jasmine will be played by Naomi Scott.

Sadly, this initial clip doesn’t give us a glimpse at either Jasmine or Genie, who will be played (or voiced at least) by Will Smith, but we do get a brief look at Aladdin at the very end, just as he’s about to grab the lamp. We also don’t see his little monkey Abu, so it will be interesting to see how they adapt the playful little critter for a live-action role.

Aladdin is due for release on 24 May, 2019.
