Director Peter Farrelly has taken a step away from the comedies he’s best-known forThere’s Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber, Me Myself & Irene) to try out his first ever drama.
Entitled Green Book, it stars Viggo Mortensen as a Bronx bouncer who’s been hired to drive a world-class jazz pianist (played by Mahershala Ali) across the country for his 1962 tour. Based on a real-life story of musician Don Shirley, it explores issues surrounding race and class in 1960s America, with the title referring to a real guide book that advised black travellers on non-discriminating hotels and more.
Green Book is due for release on 21 November.
