The first trailer has just been released for a new series from Hulu called Catch-22. Clearly the streaming company has jumped head first into this one, splashing out to work alongside George Clooney who, as well as starring in a lead role, co-wrote, produced, and sat in the director’s chair.
Based on Joseph Heller’s 1961 novel of the same name, the mini-series focusses on the exploits of Captain Yossarian (Christopher Abbott), a US Air Force bombardier who’s trying to avoid taking part in the war whilst not falling foul of Catch-22. The bureaucratic rule specifies that to be removed from duty you must be classed as insane, however requesting to be removed is from service is evidence of sanity, while fearlessly flying into the face of danger is considered insane.
Stars include Kyle Chandler, Hugh Laurie, Julie Ann Emery, Giancarlo Giannini and more. All six episodes will debut on Hulu in the US on 17 May and will also be screened on Channel 4.
