Based on Nick Horby’s book of the same name, Juliet, Naked follows Annie, a woman stuck in a tricky situation after she begins romancing with Tucker Crowe, an obscure rock star who also happens to be her current husband’s idol.
Rose Byrne stars in the lead role as Annie, while Chris O’Dowd plays her husband Chris and Ethan Hawke takes the position of the ageing rocker.
While this certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, it looks like an easy-to-watch rom-com that features some solid (and somewhat underrated) actors. Personally, I haven’t read the book, but given the success of the live-action versions of High Fidelity, Funny Girl, and About A Boy, this looks like it has all the makings of a lighthearted, enjoyable summer flick.
Juliet, Naked will be in cinemas from 17 August 2018.
